TCU receives “Insight Into Diversity” 2018 Higher Education Excellence In Diversity Award

TCU is one of 96 institutions across the United States to earn recognition following a comprehensive review by a panel of representatives from Potomac Publishing, Inc., in conjunction with members of both the magazine’s editorial board and Health Professional HEED Award advisory board.

“Our emphasis on living TCU’s core values to create a campus culture where everyone is respected and an environment where everyone feels connected is making a positive difference for faculty, staff and students,” said Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. “While there is still much work to be done, this award celebrates the work we have completed and will hold us accountable for the goals we have established.”

TCU’s ability to make such progress in such a short period is due in large part to the efforts of faculty, staff and students, who have shared their experiences, ideas and aspirations. The campus’ willingness to embrace emerging diversity is making a positive impact that will shape the university for future generations. Progress includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Defined efforts to recruit traditionally underrepresented and first-generation students as well as veterans, including community outreach, race- and economic-conscious scholarships and holistic admission process
  • Strategies to recruit and retain diverse faculty, which encompass dedicated advertising initiatives; faculty diversity advocates; a faculty success program, which offers coaching and training for tenure-track and tenured faculty; and diversity-focused events
  • Dedicated university leadership positions to address diversity, inclusion, multicultural and international services
  • Preliminary work to develop the next phase of the university’s strategic plan—Vision in Action: Lead On—which includes initiatives and opportunities for diversity and inclusion as we work to strengthen our academic profile and reputation, endowment, TCU experience and campus culture, and workforce for both employees and graduates
